My Child Inside
67
Where did you go,
My child inside?.
Are you hiding deep,
So I cannot find?.
The secrets that you keep,
Hiding in the dark.
The worst is over,
Brand new start.
I miss your laughter,
And your innocent ways.
Please come out ,
I need to play!
I know you hide,
Because of fears,
From all the confusion,
Suffered through all the years.
You are safe,
Open the door.
No need to hide,
Don't fear any more.
The sun is shinning,
A new day has come.
The past is over,
Lets have some fun!
Remember when,
We danced in the rain?
Everything's new,
Everything's changed.
Open the curtains,
Let light shine in.
This is the place,
Where healing begins.
Child inside,
I need you now!
Time for laughter,
If you only allow.
Please my child,
Come out and sing!
Remember the days,
And the joy it would bring?
The gift is there,
Just was hidden in time.
Child come out,
Time to let it shine.

- The Laughing Tree
The most wasted of all days is one without laughter. ~ e.e. cummings I was on a daily walk; had many things on my mind. When out of the blue, a unique tree, did I find. The tree displayed a bright...

I refuse to be sad, I will stay glad, For this is the best life, I have ever had. I am breathing today, Nothing standing in way, Look out world, Bad thoughts at bay. I want to be a Lucy!

Beautiful as always. I believe we had past that time with beautiful memories. Again... with your talent, you made this so great with your own word but it has deep meaning. I am sure we all agree with me. I always give my vote to you. Cheers....

I am one of the lucky ones. That child that I was is still inside me. Sometimes he's naughty. Sometimes he's spoilt. Sometimes he sulks. But on the whole he manages to get by and play for hours and fantasise and enjoy life... the child inside. And then I catch myself in the mirror some times, and say to the old man there. "Bugger off. I don;t know who you are, but you're standing in the way and I can't see myself".
Beautiful poem! I liked the structure and flow, now I'm jealous. Sometimes the boy in the helmut peers into my life at times. He was lost in the darkness some time ago. He didn't lose his way, he was just led away. However, at times I hear, see, experience something that allows him come around, he can be quite a joy to be with. Awesome!
Sunnie....thank goodness for my inner child....I have lost it along the way but she is certainly back and needs to play. Hey, I'm a poet and didn't know it.
You also bring a smile this fine morning.
Happy Friday....M
Sunnie: My struggle to keep the child in me alive and free comes not from my being unable to free it but from others who wish me to suppress my child-like nature.
Sunnie: Beautifully written. It is a shame that as we grow in stature throughout or lives we tend to bury the child-like qualities of our being or suppress them. Some of us fight and struggle to keep the child in us hidden, some struggle to set it free again. God wants it set free.
Hi Sunnie,
Thank you for sharing this beautiful poem. It is so nice to start my day with this read.
Here's to many more hubs to share my friend.
Take care
Eiddwen.
beautiful - I think everybody should take the time to get their inner child to come out and play. Maybe I will encourage mine to come out tomorrow!
Sunnie Day, I had to come back to this hub to hear the little girl sing...it was beautiful...what a powerful voice she has.
Lovely, touching and inspiring, Sunnie. I do so love my child inside; what a shame we have to coax it out of hiding once in a while. When we do, what joys we feel as the world shifts into simpler times of unconditional love, exploration and wonder that teach us so much.
Sunnie Day, this is a very beautiful and inspirational hub.
I closely identify with the words you put down on paper because I am presently in the process of finding my way after being lost for many years.
Up until not so very long ago, the "happy and content me" was buried under such negative and debilitating things as sadness, despair, anger, resentment and fear.
Thank you for composing and sharing this wonderful work of art.
Sunnie Day, you sure know how to bring on the tears. I hope this girl has wonderful parents who will allow her to develope and go as high as she can. Oh, I liked your poem too, but almost "skipped" the Youtube.
Excellent poem. I enjoyed reading it all the way through. Though I myself write a lot of poems, the first few lines of any poem are the ones which make me read em fully or quit. Hope to read more of your writings.
I love the Inner Child...it is nice to know that she is only hiding and not dead...My Inner Child kept rearing it's angry head for years, and I would not recognize her...so she had to keep hiding...now I am telling her she had a right to be angry...The angry inner child is often just a sad, and confused Inner Child.
Thanks for a beautiful start to a new day. I cherish the child within, and respect where she's been and the ways that those childhood experiences, both the sublime and the sad, have brought me to the present moment. I find the connection with my inner child most strong in nature, especially while riding a bike. There is passion, love and awe when I connect with her and for a few moments, as you've so effectively shown in this poem, the world is fresh and new again.
I absolutely love this poem and am going to bookmark it as well as voting it up, beautiful and awesome!
The Amazing Grace video with the amazing child singer was also captivating. Thanks so much for the gift of this hub.
