My Fat Baby, Ariat, CowGirl Boots! The Cutest Boots Ever Baby!
85
Material things have never really meant that much to me. Through out my life, I have known what it is to want and I have known what it is to be in need. I have never been one to dream of fancy houses, boats, and cars. I honestly can live without the diamonds and precious stones. I know this is not the norm for most women. I mean diamonds are a girls best friend...right? At least that is what I have heard. I do have a confession!
I hate to shop! There I said it! Give me my list of things we need and I will be out of that store in record speed. I think I was dropped on my head when I was a little girl as I know this is not normal.
I do have to admit there are two things in my life that I have always dreamed of having. One was an old Volkswagen Beetle. I am still dreaming and holding out for that one. Not just any bug but a 1971 convertible Volkswagen.
The second thing I have always wanted since moving to Texas was some “Ariat Fat Baby Cowgirl boots!”
To me they are about the cutest boots I have ever seen. They call out to me...Buy me!. This is rather a foreign concept for me. I have seen women wearing them and I find myself staring at their feet conveting their boots. This is just not normal!
For the last six years, my family has asked me,
“What do you want for your birthday?”
I smile real big and say, " I want some Ariat Fat Baby Cowgirl boots!”
Christmas roles around and again I am asked,
“What do you want for Christmas?”
I answer in great anticipation...
"I want some Ariat Fat Baby Cowgirl boot!”
Either I am not saying it right or their hearing has gone bad. I go to open my gift, which I am so appreciative of and there may be a robe, a piece of jewelry, a nick knack of some kind but sadly, there have been no boots.
I am really not a shallow person and I certainly do not act sad or disappointed. I tell myself, "Oh well... maybe next year."
I patiently wait until the next special occasion rolls around because I know the question will once again come around and I will tell them once again.
“I want some Ariat Fat Baby Cowgirl Boots!”
It is not that they are really expensive, I could go out and buy a pair for myself. If the truth be told, I do not usually go out and spend a lot of money on clothes and things like that. I am a jeans and flip flops kind of person. Remember the shopping part? That would mean I would have to sit and try on boots.
There always were other things more important than me getting my boots. I have tons of jewelry passed down to me but I wear the same Turquoise pieces I have had for the last twenty years. I may invest in a watch from time to time. To buy the boots for myself, was not on top of my want list and I really did not need them. They were however on my wish list...which is totally different. Did I want them? Sure I wanted them! But it was my wish that someone would buy me the Ariat Baby Fat Cowgirl Boots!
We had decided to draw names at Thanksgiving.Three Christmas's ago everyone gathered on Christmas Eve at our house to open gifts. There were at least twenty or so family members gathered around in our den. Unknowingly to me, my oldest daughter Amber had switched names with one of her siblings to get mine. We all opened our gifts and I recieved a pretty frame from her. I kissed her cheek thanking her from my heart.
Suddenly there was a knock on the door. I answered the door to find no one there. In the chair was a present beautifully wrapped addressed to me.
I walked back into the den with the box in hand and asked,
“Okay who played Santa this year?”
No one fessed up. I searched the faces trying to see if I could find a hint of a grin or a giggle. I began to open the box, as everyone looked on with anticipation. There in the box laid my Ariat Fat Baby Cowgirl boots!
You would have thought I had won a million dollars. I jumped up and down squealing with delight like a teenager. I even shed a few tears. I looked around at the faces and tried to discern once again who did this for me. I then looked at my oldest daughter who had tears in her eyes. I knew right then it was my Amber.
I looked at her and said, “Was it you honey?”
She smiled and admitted to buying my boots. She told me how she had gone all over to find the perfect pair. She said,"Mom you do so much for me, I wanted to make this Christmas special."
I hugged her so tightly with one arm around her and my boots in the other.
Therefore, each Christmas since, she has decided that she will get me a pair of Ariat Fat Baby Cow Girl boots. She will bribe whomever to get my name. I now have three pair. I wear them all the time except when I am in my flip-flops. They are the most comfortable boots I have ever owned.
Now I am thinking…it is only a matter of time I will look out the door and find my 1971 Volkswagen convertable sitting in the drive way. My life will then be complete..
Is there a lesson to be learned here? Well maybe a couple of them, if I may share my thoughts.
If you really want something..do not give up, and if no one hears you ..well say it a little louder!
We do not always get everything we want and some things are not that important...not even my boots.
Lastly...All the material things in the world will never bring happiness,
Unless... you happen to be wearing my Ariat Fat Baby Cowgirl Boots. :)

Sunnie Girl,
I loved the Volkswagon convertible. If I had one, I'd be driving it now, lol.
And, I'm hugely happy for you to have finally gotten your Fat Baby boots!
But, for the life of me, I can't learn to like Fat Baby boots, lol!!!
You know I hate shopping as much as you, and a few months ago, I was need of new boot-wear. I went. I browsed. I tried on pair after pair. All my friends are wearing them, but ... it just didn't fly.
I couldn't do it, lol!!!
I think I'm destined to be a basic Ropers' girl for the rest of my days.
However, just cuz I don't like the Fat Baby boots on me, I'm inclined to believe they look great on you, and totally suit you. :)
Congrats!
femme
What a cute hub Sunnie. Made me smile several times. I'm thinking three pairs is enough, so, maybe it is the year for the VW! Cross your fingers . . .
Sharyn
Hi Sunnie,
Love your Ariat Fat Baby Cowgirl boots. Do you have a Cowboy hat to go with it?
Like you, I hate shopping.
Voted up, up and away!
Take Care and have a wonderful day.
Love Sue
Sorry I am late
This was such a lighthearted article it had me smiling from the start. What a wonderful thing for Amber to do for you. A wonderful message too.
Sunnie Day, I see you went over to Kelly's and picked out your vw and a flattop. You are so cool they will work well with the boots.love it!

Sunnie Day, I think us women, we all like boots, well us southern girls do anyway. swing by my hub and pick out your car and haircut out. Lol thanks
I want a pair of those Ariat Fat Baby Cowgirl boots! Nice write Sunnie Day. You are so entertaining. You should open up coffee shop across the street from Emerald Wells Cafe so we have somewhere to run to when the Gun Molls hit town! Cheers, snakeslane (really, I want a pair!)
Sunnie day, We have been along I-10 we took it from florida to vegas on a trip, but never dowm to the border. You can show you hubby my picture maybe, he will go with you to get your flattop my husband does. I am getting cowboy boots that for sure,Thanks
Sunnie Day, After reading this hub,I want a new pair of boots and a convertible car too we could be the coolest chick out there. There is no wind through my flattop haircut in the big RV. I do have to say My husband, and I are so happy, we met Mary and Bob to spend time with in the winter, as you may know she is the one that buzzed my into a flattop to match hers. I REALLY HOPE YOU GET THAT CAR,THAT WOULD BE SO FUN FOR YOU! You have such great fashion style. Thank you HP friend.
A pretty lady that hates to shop. Now you have a million guys filling your email box. That's what you get for letting your secret out. Maybe now you'll learn...
I've never seen those boots before! They look cute. YOU MUST UPLOAD A CLIP OF YOU DANCING TO "BOOT SCOOT BOOGIE!"
Sunnie Day,VOTE UP! You are to sexy mama! The boots are super hot! I do have to say an all gray flattop and a VW bug, What a knockout you would be and of course the boots a must have and a little lipstick. I have an all gray flattop, just up dated my picture what do you think, Sexy or no.
I vote skip the flattop!
Sunnie Day,YOU ARE SO CUTE!!
I wrote my first hub for you, come by and see.
Sunnie Day, I love your BOOTS!!! Us Texes girls need our boots. I hope you get your VW BUG soon, life is to short to wait. I just came back from the barber 1 hour a go I went shorter and red,(new profile pic). I have a Jeep. I love taking the top off and letting the wind blow across my flattop, no hair to blow in my face while I'm driving.
I get a lot of cowboys checking my out, went my hubby and I go dancing at our local Country and Western bar, every Friday night.
GO GET THAT CONVERTIBLE WILL YOU ALREADY,AND THAT GRAY FLATTOP!!!
You are going to look shape with them boots on too.
Sunnie Day, I would have to agree with kellymom, and LydieRVgirl with them boots and your looks. You would blow peoples minds with an a gray flattop haircut. Lookout VW convertible here we come!!
Great hub. I am so happy for you for finaly getting those boots. I have been asking for an Atari 2600 for the last few years to no avail. It kinda sucks to get other things and not that but you gotta make a smile and be greatful for the thoughts. (That's what really matters right?) Maybe I'll get this year.lol. As always...Love your hub!!!!!!!!!
I think we must have the same taste in footwear too Sunnie.
I loved all your choices; and also look so comfy which is a must these days-lol-
Take care and have a wonderful weekend my friend.
Eiddwen.
Aw, this was such a cute hub. I never heard of Ariat Fat Baby Girl Cowgirl boots but they look awesome in the photos and I thought this might be a fictional story until I saw how wide your grin was when you were holding up the boots!
I did own a VW bug for a decade back in the 1970's to 1980's but it was yellow and not a convertible. Hope you get your convertible one day especially if you're able to afford it from book earnings. Now that would really be happiness!
Voted up across the board.
Terrific story, Sunnie-Oh my gosh we have so much in common. My sister and I always say that the 'shopping gene' skipped us! LOL
I love cowgirl boots and of course you need a pair-you are in Texas! But, I've never heard of these. I'll take your word that they are truly the best for comfort.
What a sweetheart, that your daughter now buys you boots for christmas. Thanks for sharing this endearing hub. Rated up.
Sunnie Day, By look at your picture. You could totally rock the all gray flattop with them boots Love it!!!
At least you wouldn't have as much of a chance at getting a speeding ticket. No as much as my son who just bought a new mustang. (or maybe you should ride a horse???) You know, with your cowgirl boots and all...
Sunnie day,All women need some good cowboy boots, I happy you got a pair. I think if you get a convertible bug you should get a nice gray flattop. I a Miata and the gray flattop works well it,My boots are on all the time. Thanks
Sweet story, Sunnie. I had a VW Beetle(actually 2) once (at different times) and got a speeding ticket with one of them. I was going 40 in a 30 mile zone. The judge teased me and said he didn't know VW Beetles could go that fast. Glad you got your boots. (:
loved the Hub and so glad you got your boots. Who knows, maybe Santa still has some surprises up his sleeve...don't give up on the beetle!vote up.
Sunnie Day,VOTE UP!! From one Texan to another one. I love my cowboy boots! I have 5 pair. Great hub.
come check out my flattop hair hub.
I can just see you in your boots riding around in the VW! Hey, it isn't Christmas yet. You just might get that car! BTW you have the sweetest smile! Goodnight.
Loved your story Sunnie. I love cowgirl boots too. The five years i lived in Houston, that's all i wore. I remember standing in front of my mirror, applying makeup when my Grangdaughter Lisa looked up at me and asked, " Granma, when i grow up, can i have your boots? " Sorry to report her feet outgrew mine HaHa..Thank's for the memory and you taught me not to give up..I still want that pink Caddy..Hee
Oh Amber, bless her, aren't daughters wonderful!
Lovely story and message and love those boots!
Enlydia Listener, I have seen some really cute vardos on the Internet. I have even seen sites where they show how to make them. The Tumbleweeds are cute too.
"Material things have never really meant that much to me"
You are very true, we have to abandon everything when we die.
Your story is very beautiful.
Sunnie Day, I think I have found a kindred spirit in you...it's funny cause that is exactly what I want!...an RV (that looks like a vardo...I'd have to repaint) and travel the country. The thought of simple living totally intrigues me. Go when you want to go, see what you want to see...and live an unencumbered life. I hope we can both have our dream. Blessings
Sunnie Day, thanks for the video...I enjoyed it...aren't vardos cute and pretty? Probably not too practical. I once tried to convince my husband to buy a silver bus, so he and our eight children could traverse the country. We put a down payment on it, but never went back for it.
I am the dreamer, and thankfully he is more practical.
Thanks again for letting me re-view my dream.
Sunnie, I am so glad I read this. I could relate to this so much. There are so few things that I REALLY want...and I really don't care about diamonds. But it is so cool when someone acknowledges that special thing that you want. I want a "vardo"...not a common want. It is a gypsy traveling home.
Hi Sunnie. Another lovely, from the heart warm article from you. I was sooo glad when you got your boots, but i don't know about a pair every year...perhaps you should have not been so enthusiastic. The kids must really love you. There's a moral to this story - several actually. First, if you are patient and consistent you may eventually get what you wish for. And the waiting and anticipation makes the gift beyond the price of rubies. You wouldn't have swapped those boots for a king's ransom - well, maybe the Beetle would have tempted you. I also think when we wish hard enough, we launch some energy into the universe which helps us achieve our goal. I am thinking Porshe Carrera GT right now, or is that too greedy!? Voted up...Bobx
PS I will contact you re the other matter
Good lesson to be learned from this story and what a great daughter! You've done a great job on both counts! Cute boots too!
Hi Sunnie! Those boots look hot! Great story (and message)! Voted up, up and away!
My daughter is a shop-a-holic and always wants me to go with her. When I went and got my sandals at the beginning of spring 2 years ago, it took me 10 minutes. She takes an hour to buy a pack of socks.
Well Sunnie, you really are weird! lol
Which woman does not love diamonds and shopping!
Well I hope you do get that car of your dreams.
With three daughters there should be a pair of ruby slippers around here somewhere. Oh, wait who is going to wear them:)
Now we just need to get me some. I don't have any boots. Right now, I have one pair of shoes and one pair of sandals. I also have 3 pairs of slippers. They are all over 3 years old. THAT is how much I hate to go shopping.
Sunnie, we are so similar. I love cowboy/girl boots too. Your are adorable and I am so glad you finally got a pair all of your own. Every girl needs great footwear!
haha...yes line dancing I preferred but in one of my dancing class my instructor called it the slapping leather. Its fun! Check it out on youtube! Its awesome! :)
What a wonderful hoiday story. I like it on so many levels. Perseverance being one of them. The beauty of Amber's heart on another. Now the VW.
sunie day, The sentiment around here is so beautiful that you can nothing else but be impressed. Oh! How I wish I was there to help you get your Beetle. BTW your boots are really good. Thank your stars for your gift which happens to be your daughter.
A son is a son till he gets wife,
A daughter is a daughter all your life.
Thanks for nice hub. It's beautiful.
With warm wishes,
MAKUSR
The boots makes me want to groove! Lets do the slappin leather dance! LOL
